Yeah, I think the focus should be put on fixing broken things instead of implementing new broken things. Why do we need more flyable planes when the flight model for Harrier is still broken. The improvements to the terrain are welcome but I would rather get some solid gameplay first - like properly working base airplane for instance... The current approach could be good if the team was bigger, but as a solo gig it's not really working.
My recommendations would be:
• ditch the other aircraft for now
• implement only simple avionics, no fancy targeting pods controls and modes, simplify it to the standards of older classic titles like EF2000 / F-22ADF, modelling all that takes too much time
• fix the broken flight model (flying is no fun right now)
• fix the HUD conformality - symbology should stay fixed in regards to outside world (at "infinite" distance), right now when you translate your view up/down/left/right you will notice slight shift of the symbology in regards to the distant terrain features
• implement working training and single missions
When all the basic stuff works start working on dynamic campaign.
After that think on adding complexity to the avionics (most people would still rather fly with simple systems). I see many people longing for all those mid 90s sims where you had realistic scenarios (no Ace Combat like missions) with manageable system modelling focusing on gameplay and not on system management. Keep it real but keep it simple.
At this pace where things are going we will get dynamic campaign in DCS sooner and CAP2 will be absolete at this point, the only thing that can save this IMHO is to make CAP2 with a 90s mentaility but with todays graphics and peripherial support. Think of modern version of Domark's AV-8B Harrier Assault from 1992.
